  • The post of Assistant Divisional Medical Officer in the Indian Railway Medical Service is in Group ‘A” Junior Scale in level 10 of Pay Matrix (Pre Revised PB-3, Rs. 15,600-39,100/- with Grade Pay of Rs. 5,400/-) and Non-Practising Allowance as per rules is admissible. Private practice is prohibited.
    The candidate should follow the orders issued by the Ministry of Railways or any other competent authority periodically regarding the restriction or prohibition of private practice by the candidate.
  • The candidates should serve a probation period of 1 year which may be extended by the Government if considered it is required. On successful completion of the probation period, the candidates will be confirmed as Assistant Divisional Medical Officer in the junior scale of the Indian Railway Medical Service.
  • The candidates can be terminated during probation period by one month’s notice period informed through writing from any of the side as per the rules in Indian Railway Establishment Code. A candidate can also be dismissed or removed on the grounds of disciplinary matter in such case a written letter is not required.
  • Candidates should undertake training as mentioned by the Ministry of Railways and clear all the Departmental Examinations.
  • Candidates are eligible for leave as per the leave rules implemented periodically and relevant to officers in that particular rank/grade.
  • Candidates are eligible for free Railway Passes and Privilege Ticket Orders as per the rules.
  • Candidates should pass the examination in Hindi of ratified standard during the probation period and if candidates fail in this examination, then they are liable of termination from service.
  • If required, candidates are liable to serve in any Defence Service or post connected with the Defence of India at least for a minimum period of four years including the period spent on training. From the dates of such appointment, after 10 years the person is not required to serve or after attaining the age of 45 years.
  • A candidate will be administered by the provisions of the Indian Railways Establishment Code and the existing orders as amended/issued periodically/. The promotions, pay scales and allowances related to higher grades will be as per the Railway Medical Service Recruitment Rules, 2000 and the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Railway periodically.
  • Initially, the candidates will undergo Foundation Course training after the completion of Foundation Course, the candidate will be posted as ADMOs to the Railway Health Units/Dispensaries at way side stations and they could also be transferred to any Railway.

Assistant Divisional Medical Officers Duties and Responsibilities

  1. The person in charge as ADMO should attend the indoor wards and out Patient department daily and whenever required.
  2. He/she should also take charge of physical examination of candidates and of employees in service as per the existing rules.
  3. He/she should look after the family planning, public health and sanitation in his/her jurisdiction.
  4. He/she should examine vendors.
  5. He/she will be in charge of discipline and proper discharge of duties of the Hospital Health Unit Staff.
  6. He/she should follow the duties assigned to him/her specially and prepare return statement and indentation connected with his speciality.
  7. He/she will maintain and preserve all equipment in his charge.

  • The Assistant Medical Officer in the Indian Ordnance Factories Health Service under the Ministry of Defence is a temporary post in Group A but likely to be made permanent in due course.
  • Pay level 10 of the pay matrix plus NPA (as per rate and rules in vogue and as amended periodically.
  • The candidate’s promotion, pay scale to higher grades are as per the OFHS rules and the orders issued by the Government periodically.
  • The Candidate can be posted in any of the Ordnance Factory Hospitals or dispensaries in the country, which are currently situated in the following locations

  • Initially, the candidates will be on probation period of 2 yeas which may be reduced or extended at the discretion of the competent Authority. On successful completion of the probation period he/she will be posted temporarily till confirmation against the permanent vacancy.
  • During the period of probation or thereafter while employed in temporary capacity, the appointment can be terminated on one month’s notice from any of the side. The Government reserves the right to give one month’s pay in lieu of notice.

Assistant Medical Officer in the Indian Ordnance Factories Health Service under the Ministry of Defence Duties and Responsibilities

  • Medical attendance of emergencies, outpatients and inpatients
  • Medical Examinations
  • Providing occupational health service
  • General administration of the department under his/her Charge-Plan:
    • Organize and Supervise the work;
    • Quality assurance’ Control, discipline, training and welfare of the staff and ensuring proper discharge of duties by then, stores management;
    • Maintenance of proper documentation, records and statistics; Ensuring proper housekeeping and security;
    • maintenance of facility, equipment and instruments;
    • ensuring proper infection control and bio-medical waste disposal.
  • One should also follow duties that are allotted to them by the Medical Officer-in-Charge.

After the successful completion of probation period candidates will be confirmed which is again based on the availability of permanent posts.
  • The candidates can be posted in any dispensary or hospital under any organisation participating in the Central Health Service, anywhere in India viz. C.G.H.S. operating at:
    • Delhi, Bangalore, Bombay, Meerut, Lakshadweep Andaman and Nicobar Islands, P&T department etc.
  • Private practice of any kind including lab and consultant practice is prohibited.
  • The scale of pay admissible to the Junior Scale Medical Officer of CHS is in the Level-10 (Rs. 56,100 to Rs.1,77,500/-) of the pay matrix and Non Practicing Allowance (NPA), promotions, and pay scale as per the CHS Rules, 2014 and the guidelines issued by the Government periodically.

  • During the period of probation and thereafter while employed in temporary capacity, the appointment can be terminated on one month`s notice from any of the side. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi reserves the right to pay one month`s pay in lieu of notice.
  • Prospects of promotion including pay scale and allowances related to the higher grades is as per the Recruitment Regulations.
  • Salary at the minimum of first cell is Rs. 56,100/- in the level 10 of the Pay Matrix under 7th CPC (as per the pre-revised scale in PB – 3 Rs. 15600-39100+GP Rs. 5400/-) plus NPA and other admissible allowances as per rules.
  • Private practice of any kind whatsoever is prohibited.
