SSC-Combined Higher Secondary Level (SSC-CHSL) Exam Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who are planning to give the SSC CHSL Exam should know the eligibility criteria before applying for the exam.

Here are the detailed eligibility criteria which every candidate should ensure that they fulfill all the criteria in case if any candidate who does not meet any of the eligibility criteria the commission will reject such candidates.

Below mentioned are the eligibility criteria as prescribed by the Staff Selection Commission.

SSC CHSL Exam Nationality/Citizenship Eligibility Criterion

A candidate applying for the CHSL exam should be

  1. A citizen of
    • India, or
    • Nepal, or
    • Bhutan, or
  2. A Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before 1st January 1962 with an intention to settle down in India permanently, or
  3. Should be a person of Indian origin who has migrated from

A person of Indian origin who has migrated from East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia; Burma; Sri Lanka, and Vietnam with an intention to settle down in India permanently.

NOTE: A candidate who belongs to the categories (b), (c), (ii) and (iii) aforementioned should produce a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.

SSC CHSL exam educational qualification eligibility condition

A candidate should have passed at least 12th Standard or any equivalent examination from any University or Board recognized by the Government.

In order to appear for SSC CHSL Exam, you must have passed 12th Standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.

If a candidate has obtained any degree through open Universities/Distance Education Mode, then such universities must be recognized by the Distance Education Council, IGNOU.

SSC CHSL Exam Age Limit Eligibility

As per the SSC Notification released for the CHSL Examination, a candidate must have attained the minimum age of 18 years and a maximum of 27 years as on 1st August 2018.

But there are certain categories under which the candidates are eligible for age relation.

Candidates who come under the aforementioned categories should submit the requisite certificate from the authorized person/organization at the time of the skill test /document verification.

Candidates should submit the certificates in the same format as instructed by the commission on their official website.

If the candidates fail to submit any requisite documents in such case the candidates’ application will be cancelled or rejected by the Commission.
