SSC Combined Graduate Level Examination (CGL) Syllabus

The SSC CGL Exam is a combined four tier examination with various papers on a particular subject in each Tier and the subjects have a defined syllabus as prescribed by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC).

SSC CGL TIER II EXAM: The second stage of the exam is called Tier II and has four papers two papers compulsory and the rest of the two papers are optional applicable only for those candidates who have opted for that specific posts as mentioned below.

SSC CGL TIER III EXAM: The Tier III of the SSC CGL Exam is a written exam and of descriptive nature to assess writing skills of the candidates. Candidates who clear the Tier I and II exam qualify for the Tier III exam. The standard of the paper is of 10+2 level.
Total Marks assigned to Descriptive paper in CGL TIER 3 is 100 marks and will include below given topics.

  • Precis Writing
  • Application Writing
  • Essay Writing

SSC CGL TIER IV Exam: Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) – CPT (Computer Proficiency Test) will be conducted for those candidates who have opted for CSS (Central Secretariat Services) post.

Data Entry Skill Test – Data Entry Skill Test (DEST) will be conducted for those candidates who have opted for the Tax Assistant post.
