RRB Junior Engineer / Senior Section Engineer Eligibility Criteria

Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) recruits eligible Engineergraduates for the posts of Junior Engineer (IT), Senior Section Engineer and various other posts.

Before applying for the RRB JE/SSE Posts, candidates should ensure that they fulfill all the eligibility conditions like educational qualification(s) and medical standard(s) among others.

Candidates should know that mere issue of e–Call Letter does not mean that their application has been confirmed by the RRB. As a candidates’ candidature may be rejected or cancelled during any time of the recruitment process or even after appointed if found the details furnished by the candidates are false or incorrect.

Candidates applying for the Junior Engineer & Senior Section Engineer Posts should satisfy the minimum eligibility criteria as specified by the Board and the RRB JE/SSE eligibility criteria are as mentioned below.

RRB JE/SSE EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION

Candidates should have obtained the requisite Educational/Technical qualifications from recognized Board/University/Institute as on the date of submission of the RRB JE/SSE online application. Candidates who arewaiting for the results of the final examination NEED NOT apply.

Candidates who have obtained diploma/degree through distance mode except AMIETE & AMIE are not eligible to apply.

RRB JE/SSE AGE LIMIT

The minimum and maximum age limit mentioned for a particular post(s) in the below given table iscalculated as on 01.07.2018. The upper age limit is relaxable to candidates who belong to the categories or communities as mentioned in the below table and to avail the age limit relaxation candidates should submit the requisite certificates.

For Junior Engineer Group
Minimum Age: 18Years
Maximum Age: 34 Years

For Senior Section Engineer
Minimum Age: 20Years
Maximum Age: 34 Years

If candidates who belong to SC/ST/OBC candidates choose the unreserved category, then they will not be eligible for any age relaxation.

JE/SSE Age Relaxation or upper age limit for various categories or communities is as follows.

SC/ST 45 Years of Age
7 Candidates who are working in Quasi-Administrative offices of the Railway organization such as Railway Canteens, Co-operative Societies and Institutes Up to the length of service rendered,subject to a maximum of 5 years.
8 Women candidates, who are widowed, divorced or judicially separated from husband but not remarried U R 35 Years of age
OBC-NCL (Non Creamy Layer) 38 Years of age
SC/ST 40 Years of age

RRB JE/SSE MEDICAL FITNESS TEST

Candidates who successfully clear Online computer based examination and recommended for appointment should have to pass requisite medical fitness test(s) conducted by the Railway Administration to ensure that the candidates are medically fit to carry out the duties connected with the post. Visual Acuity Standard is one of the important criteria of medical fitness of railway staff.

The medical requirements against different medical standards for different categories are outlined below:

2. B-1 Physically fit in all aspects Visual Standards

Distance Vision: 6/9, 6/12 with or without glasses (power of lenses not to exceed 4D).

Near Vision: Sn.0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses when reading or close work is required and must pass test for Colour Vision, Binocular Vision, Field of Vision & Night Vision.

3. B-2 Physically fit in all aspects Visual Standards

Distance Vision: 6/12, 6/18 with or without glasses.

Near Vision: Sn: 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses when reading or close work is required.

4. C-1 Physically fit in all aspects Visual Standards

Distance Vision: 6/12, 6/18 with or without glasses.

Near Vision: Sn: 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses when reading or close work is required.

5. C-2 Physically fit in all aspects Visual Standards

Distance Vision: 6/12, Nil with or without glasses.

Near Vision: Sn: 0.6 combined with or without glasses when reading or close work is required.

A-1, A-2, A-3, B-1, B-2, C-1 & C-2 = Various Levels of Medical Standards which the candidates will have to qualify before appointment in Railways.

NOTE :

  1. Candidates should ensure that he/she fulfills the prescribed Medical Standards for JE/SSE or posts, before indicating option(s) for categories in ONLINE Application.
  2. Candidates who do not fulfill the prescribed medical standards need not apply.
  3. Candidates failing in the prescribed medical fitness test under any circumstances will not be considered for any alternative appointmenteven though they have qualified in the examinations for these posts.
  4. The above medical standards (Criteria) are indicative only and not exhaustive and apply to all the candidates in general.
  5. For Ex-Servicemen different standards apply.
